MicroNet Technology's QuikMount software has been developed to provide convenient access to the most commonly used features of the MicroNet Utility Program. The software is essentially a scaled-down version of the MicroNet Utility Program in Control Panel form.
QuikMount does not modify Macintosh System Software in any way. The QuikMount Control Panel is designed to be 100% compatible with all Extensions (INITs) and Control Panels. In addition, it can be used with similar Extensions and Control Panels from other manufacturers.
QuikMount provides universal features which are designed to be used with all SCSI devices. However, QuikMount's advanced features are designed to be used only with MicroNet products.

• Installing QuikMount
The QuikMount program is a Control Panel. It needs to be dragged into the System Folder of your startup disk before it will appear in the Control Panels item of your Apple menu. If you have multiple startup disks, drag the QuikMount Control Panel into the System Folder of each startup disk you use. Restart your Macintosh to begin using QuikMount.
System 7 allows you to open the QuikMount software as a program as well as a Control Panel. If you are using System 7, you can copy the QuikMount Control Panel into a folder or onto the desktop and open it whenever you need it.
• Opening QuikMount
The QuikMount Control Panel can be opened by selecting the Control Panels option under the Apple Menu. System 7 users can also use the QuikMount Control Panel by selecting it and opening it like a program.

• About QuikMount's Advanced Features
The manufacturers of SCSI drives generally use different methods for implementing advanced features such as password protection, partitioning, and auto-mounting. These differences make it impractical to design a universal utility program that can be used with all SCSI drives regardless of manufacturer.
QuikMount provides many universal features for use with SCSI devices of any type. However, QuikMount's advanced mounting, unmounting, auto-mounting and password protection features are designed to be used only with MicroNet products. Using these QuikMount options with drives from other manufacturers can cause unpredictable results.
• Using QuikMount's Advanced Features
QuikMount's advanced features can be accessed by opening the QuikMount Control Panel, clicking on the SCSI ID of the desired MicroNet drive, and clicking on the Mount… button. This will open the Password/Mount window.
• Selecting a Partition
QuikMount displays recognized drive partitions as black squares in the Partition Map of the Password/Mount window. Partition status information is represented by small white squares in the corners of the black partitions squares.
Individual partitions can be selected by clicking once on the desired black square or partition number. QuikMount will display the volume name and size of the selected partition at the bottom of the window. You must select a partition to use most of QuikMount's advanced features. Only the Mount All and UnMount All buttons can be used without selecting a single partition.
• Mounting Partitions
To mount a Macintosh partition, locate the desired partition by clicking on individual black squares in the Partition Map. Use the volume names or sizes which appear at the bottom of the window to find the desired partition. Once you have selected the desired partition, click on the Mount button. A/UX and other non-Macintosh partitions cannot be mounted with QuikMount.
If the partition has been password protected, QuikMount will prompt you for the password. You must enter the password exactly as it was originally entered. Click the OK button mount the partition, or click the Cancel button to stop.
You can use the Mount All button to quickly mount all Macintosh partitions without password protection. Password protected partitions must be individually mounted.
• Unmounting Partitions
QuikMount can unmount all Macintosh partitions, unless they are being used by the Macintosh. A partition is considered busy by the Macintosh if one of its files or programs is open, if it is being shared across a network, or if it being used as a virtual memory storage volume.
To unmount a Macintosh partition, locate the desired partition by clicking on individual black squares in the Partition Map. Use the volume names or sizes which appear at the bottom of the window to find the desired partition. Once you have selected the desired partition, click on the UnMount button.
You can use the UnMount All button to quickly unmount all Macintosh partitions which are not busy. QuikMount cannot unmount Macintosh partitions which are busy.
• Disabling Automatic Mounting
You can set Macintosh partitions to not automatically mount at startup time by using QuikMount. To disable auto-mounting, locate the desired partition by clicking on individual black squares in the Partition Map. Use the volume names or sizes which appear at the bottom of the window to find the desired partition. Once you have selected the desired partition, uncheck the 'AutoMount at Boot Time' box.
The next time you startup your Macintosh, the partition will not automatically appear on your desktop. You will need to use QuikMount to manually mount the partition when you need access to it, or enable automatic mounting and restart your Macintosh.
• Enabling Automatic Mounting

Use the volume names or sizes which appear at the bottom of the window to find the desired partition. Once you have selected the desired partition, check the 'AutoMount at Boot Time' box. The next time you startup your Macintosh, the partition will automatically appear on your desktop.
• About Password Protection
QuikMount allows you to password protect individual Macintosh partitions. Once protected, these partitions can't be mounted without entering the correct password. Password protected volumes won't automatically mount at startup time. They must be manually mounted using QuikMount whenever needed.
Store your password in TWO safe places. There is no way of mounting a password protected volume without entering the original password. If you lose or forget the password, you won't ever be able to mount your partitions again.
MicroNet has designed it's password protection to prevent unauthorized partition mounting only. It won't prevent disk recovery programs from accessing your data. In fact, if you lose or forget your password, the only possible way to get your data back is to try a disk recovery program.
• Setting Partition Passwords
To set a partition password, locate the desired partition by clicking on individual black squares in the Partition Map. Use the volume names or sizes which appear at the bottom of the window to find the desired partition. Once you have selected the desired partition, click on the Set Password… button.
Write down the desired password on a sheet of paper. Take care to note the difference between upper and lower case characters. When you have written down your password, type in the password on the screen exactly as written. Click on the OK button to continue. The partition is protected when the window closes.
• Changing Partition Passwords
You must enter the existing password to change a partition's password. To change a partition password, locate the desired partition by clicking on individual black squares in the Partition Map. Use the volume names or sizes which appear at the bottom of the window to find the desired partition. Once you have selected the desired partition, click on the Change Password… button.
Write down the new password on a sheet of paper. Take care to note the difference between upper and lower case characters. When you have written down your new password, type in the new password on the screen exactly as written, then type in the old (existing) password. Click on the OK button to continue. The password change is complete when the window closes.
Store your new password in TWO safe places. There is no way of mounting a password protected volume without entering the original password. If you lose or forget the password, you won't ever be able to mount that partition again.
• Clearing Partition Passwords
You must enter the existing password to clear a partition's password. To clear a partition password, locate the desired partition by clicking on individual black squares in the Partition Map. Use the volume names or sizes which appear at the bottom of the window to find the desired partition. Once you have selected the desired partition, click on the Change Password… button.
Enter the existing password into the Old Password field, leaving the New Password field blank. Click on the OK button. The password is cleared when the window closes.
